It’s almost April in Augusta, which means one thing for golf lovers: The Masters. Perhaps the pinnacle of the PGA Tour, those who love golf eagerly anticipate seeing who will take home the coveted green jacket.

In the moments that matter the most, players want to have the right equipment to finish the job, especially during that final putt. From the best putter grip to the right putting grip styles, these factors can make or break what could be another iconic Masters moment. When it comes to golf putter grips, if you know, you know – which is why many of the golfers who have found great success at The Masters also happen to be SuperStroke putter grip users.

We’re highlighting some of the greatest Masters moments from players like Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson and Sungjae Im. These PGA Tour players have proven again and again that with grit, determination and the right putter grips, it’s possible to achieve greatness on the golf course.

    1. Jordan Spieth Wins The Masters (2015)

In 2015, just one year after his debut at Augusta, Jordan Spieth won the Masters.

Spieth started the tournament off by making history after the first day when he became the youngest player to lead the tournament after the first round. The next day Jordan shot 66, breaking the 36-hole Masters scoring record previously set by Raymond Floyd in 1976, when he went14-under through two rounds.

On the final day of the tournament, Spieth ended up tying Tiger Woods’ 1997 score after bogeying the final hole, bringing his score to 18-under. With the help of his SuperStroke Traxion Flatso 1.0 grip, Jordan solidified his place in Masters history.

This win propelled Jordan Spieth to second place in the world rankings. It was also his third win on the PGA Tour and fifth win worldwide.

    1. Dustin Johnson Wins The Masters (2020)

Dustin Johnson’s win at the 2020 Masters featured a record score of 268, which was 20-under par, at Augusta National. This meant that Johnson surpassed the previous course records set by Tiger Woods in 1997 and Jordan Spieth in 2015.

This marked Johnson’s first victory at the Masters, his second major championship win and his 24th official victory on the PGA Tour. Johnson used a SuperStroke Traxion Pistol GT putter grip during this Masters performance, helping him net this exciting win.

Sungjae Im, the newest SuperStroke Ambassador, made his Masters debut in 2020. After making a splash as the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, Im had a competitive showing at Augusta, just 5 strokes behind winner Dustin Johnson.

Sungjae Im finished T2 at 15-under after finishing with three sub-70 rounds and 24 birdies. This performance was the highest finish by an Asian player at Augusta National ever. At the time, he was just 23 years old.

    1. Jordan Spieth Finishes T2 in Masters Debut (2014)

Likewise, Jordan Spieth finished T2 in his Masters debut in 2014. This was a record-breaking finish, as it made him the youngest runner-up in the history of the Masters.

Spieth spent much of the tournament tied with eventual champion Bubba Watson, except for when he was leading by two strokes during the final round. Spieth was poised to become the youngest winner of the Masters, but he was surpassed again by Watson.

He still made history as the youngest runner-up, finishing in a tie for second with Jonas Blixt and with no scores above 72 (even-par). This golf tournament moved Spieth into the top 10 for world rankings.
There’s no doubt that the 2022 Masters will be full of more exciting moments and perhaps some more record-setting performances. And with the right SuperStroke putter grip, incredible things can happen. Keep an eye out for your favorite SuperStroke Ambassadors as we cheer them on.
